Hepu Story / Beihai Revealed

The word Beihai means “north of the sea”. Beihai town has a number of things that stand out that make it famous. First Beihai was the last Chinese seaport in Western China where goods were received before being transported over land to Far Western countries Western Asia and India. Second it was one of the sites of the Han Dynasty during 3rd Century B.C. Third the Portuguese Western architecture influence in Old Town Beihai. The fourth attraction to Beihai would probably the abundance of sea life and Beihai’s pearl industry. You will see the use of pearls in Yingpan’s artwork. The settlement of Hepu is a small farm community near the large Town of Beihai. Hepu is also the name of a county in which Hepu and Beihai are a part of. Hepu settlement is inland from the South China Sea. Beihai is right on the South China Sea peninsular. China does not move its tomb artifacts moved to cities like many Western and European countries do. If the tomb is in the middle of a farm rice paddy then that is where the museum will be located dead off in that same rice paddy. China isn’t moving any tomb relics to the nearest town or, city soon. You have to move the city the tomb and its relics or go there yourself. The Beihai History Museum in Hepu is located in country settlement miles away from nowhere. You will not see historical information and ancient artifacts connected with Behai unless you go to Hepu. Centuries ago Beihai boar the same name Hepu before it was later changed to Beihai.
